Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG)
Travel and Ground Transport
Shanghai Pudong International Airport has good ground transfer infrastructure, with the rapid Maglev rail service providing the most efficient public transport option.
Buses cover a variety of destinations and are cheap, while taxis are more expensive but convenient. For many, the need to choose between transport options is removed by the availability of free hotel shuttle vehicles.
A variety of buses serve the airport, covering a total of five different routes. Connections can be made with Hong Qiao International Airport, Shanghai Exhibition Centre, Zunyi road, Dongjiagwan road and Shanghai Railway Station.
Shanghai Airport Bus Company Ltd. provides shuttle services from the airport to a variety of destinations. Their office is located near Gate 9 of the International Arrivals area.
The city's big hotels generally provide vehicles to shuttle guests between the airport and their establishments. If you are booking independently, then contact your hotel directly; otherwise, check with your travel agent to ascertain the availability of a hotel shuttle service. Meanwhile, the airport also provides services which run to all of the city's major hotels. Bus lines A to H cover around 27 different hotel establishments.
The Maglev train runs from a station situated next to the airport and connects with Longyang Station, from where you can transfer to Metro line 2. The service is relatively cheap and speedy, with a journey time of about eight minutes.
Taxis can be hired outside the Arrivals Hall and taxi ranks are separated according to the destinations which they travel to. Passengers are advised to make sure that the driver sets the meter before beginning the journey.
There are no limousine companies represented at the airport. However, Asialimo, a company based in the city, can provide airport pick ups by prior arrangement. Call: +86 21 5358 0168 for more details.
